Has Elephone really made a slim bezel phone with Helio P10 chipset? Well real photos of their new Elephone P9000 Lite say yes.
Before you all say “See the P9000 isn’t a bezel-less design” remember that this is the Elephone P9000 Lite, and has always been described as a ‘narrow bezel’ phone, while the top of the range P9000 (which hasn’t been seen in the flesh yet) is the bezel less phone.
Elephone P9000 Lite
These photos show the Elephone P9000 Lite sat with the ZUK Z1 smartphone to compare the thickness of the screen edge. Its not surprising that Elephone chose the Z1 as a comparison phone as the Z1 isn’t known for its slim bezels. Still the edges of the phone P9000 Lite do look narrower than other Elephone phones, and there are not black borders around the display either.
From another view we can see the USB Type C plug between dual speakers in the base of the phones slim metal body.
A final image shows the the processor details of the P9000 Lite which state that the phone is running a MT6755B chipset, a variant of the Helio P10 processor. The ‘B’ at the end of the model number could mean that this is a slightly lower spec version of the P10 perhaps running a different GPU or lower processor speed.
So that’s the Elephone P9000 in the flesh, what do you make of the next generation Elephone phone? Are you planning to buy the phone? Let us know in the comments below.
With the end of the year drawing closer, more phone makers are producing sub $100 phones make the most of recent hardware price cuts. Elephant’s is the Elephone Ivory and will launch at the end of November.
As with every year, prices for components have steadily dropped as product ramps up or new technology is launched. This gives manufacturers the chance to produce lower cost phones than it was possible at the start of the year.
Over the past few weeks we have seenUMi, Blackview, and Oukitel all announce phones that will cost less than $100, and now Elephone have turned up with details of their device.
Launching sometime at the end of November, the Elephone Ivory. The Ivory will sell for $99.99 (the same as the UMi Fair) and will come with a 5-inch 720p HD display, 2.5D on cell panel and feature an octacore Mediatek MT6753 chipset with LTE. The octacore chip is a surprise at this price, normally a quad-core is used.
Renders of the Elephone Ivory show a black phone with ELE logo, single LED flash and camera located top center on the rear of the device.
For the cost and what we know about the phone so far the Ivory is on par with other similar priced phones, but the battery size, amount of RAM and camera specifications will really tell us more about this upcoming budget device. Stay tuned for more details.
Elephone has launched two new smartphones the Elephone Vowney that houses the 64 bit MT6795 processor & comes with 2K display and the Elephone Vowney Lite that is a trimmed down version of Vowney.
The Elephone Vowney is a high end smartphone that sports a 5.5 inch IPS LCD screen supporting 2560 x 1440 pixels resolution. It houses the MediaTek MT6795 64 bit octa core processor – chipset supports 2K display. CPU is clocked at 2.2 GHz coupled with G6200 GPU.
The Vowney will be running Android 5.1 with 4GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage, plus micro SD card support of up to 64GB. This handset also comes with a 20.7MP camera using the SONY IMX230 sensor with fast focusing (0.3 sec). Rear camera can shoot 4K videos and also comes with dual tone LED flash support. Front camera is an 8MP shooter.
Key features are dual SIM, 4G (2300 band is not supported), 3G, finger print scanner Touch ID based, WiFi, GPS and Bluetooth 4.0. This handset gets power from 4200 mAh battery. The Elephone Vowney pre-booking has started, shipping will begin from 31st October.
Elephone will also launch a lite version called the Elephone Vowney Lite that will also be powered by MT6795 octa core processor, it will however sport a 5.5 inch screen with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution, will be loaded with 3GB RAM, 16GB internal storage and sail on Lollipop 5.1 out of the box. The Elephone Vowney Lite will be cheaper – the price has not yet been disclosed.
Mumblings from China are suggesting that the first 10 CPU core smartphone could be the as yet unannounced Elephone P9000. According to the source, the handset will featureMediaTek’s Helio X20 SoC and is rumored to have a launch date scheduled for this October.
Back in May, MediaTek officially announced its deca-core Helio X20 chip for mobile, which features a tri-cluster CPU configuration of two heavy duty ARM Cortex-A72 cores clocked at 2.5GHz, a medium performance quad-core Cortex-A53 group clocked at 2.0GHz, and a further power efficient quad-core A53 group clocked at just 1.4GHz.
The Helio X20 caused a bit of a stir after its launch, with many questioning the performance, energy consumption and even the theoretical multi-core use cases of MediaTek’s latest design choice. Anyone still unsure on the subject should have a read of our latest dissection of the octa-core Exynos 7420. The more sceptical also wondered if this is just a marketing gimmick by MediaTek and we’ll have to wait and see if the chip can live up to its promises.
Regardless, the X20 chip isn’t just about squeezing more CPU cores into small gadgets. It also comes with a GPU from ARM’s latest high-end Mali-T880 generation, supports Category 6 LTE data speeds, and can manage dual image sensors or a single sensor up to 34MP. According to the rumor, Elephone will be making use of many of these high end features for the P9000. The X20 is to be built on a 20nm manufacturing node, meaning that it will be smaller and more efficient than MediaTek’s previous 28nm designs.
The Elephone P9000 smartphone is expected to arrive with a 5.5-inch 1080p display, 4GB of RAM, a 20.7MP front facing camera and 8MP rear camera. The handset is also rumored to feature a 3,100mAh battery, 32GB of internal storage with microSD card slot, and dual-SIM compatibility with 4G, making it a competitive high-end design.
The P9000 could cost around $500 upon release and is expected to launch in various regions on October 20th. What do you think about this rumor?
The Vowney will be Elephone’s must up market phone so far and at a retail price close to $300 will be competing in a space filled with phones from OnePlus, Motorola and other smartphone makers.
Elephone might have the upper hand though (in hardware at least) as the Vowney has a surprisingly well stocked compliment of high-end specifications. Version A of the phone will be released with Mediatek MT6795 chipsets and Android 5.0 while the Version B will have the option to run Android or Windows 10 on a quad-core Intel chip.
Both phones will come with a 5.5-inch 2K display, 20 mega-pixel Sony IMX230 rear camera, 3GB RAM, 32GB memory and large 3800mAh battery.
Presales only state a price of $299.99, we’re not sure if this is the price for Version A only or if both phones will go on sale for the same price. A final release date hasn’t been set yet, but as usual the Vowney is running over schedule.
